Choose respect dating violence
52nd Medical Operations Squadron Family Advocacy Intervention specialists visited Bitburg Middle High School Feb.11, to speak with students about the crucial topic of teen dating violence.
Looking back, many teenage girls would admit to dancing in their mom’s high-heeled shoes as young girls, wearing sheets as robes, and practicing to curtsey in front of the mirror.
These activities will motivate participants to come up with ways to promote healthy and respectful relationships in their community. This program features true stories of youth, parents, and professionals who have been in, or witnessed, abusive relationships.
The video utilizes their experiences and insights so that youth and parents can recognize and prevent dating abuse in their own lives, or in the lives of others.
No matter what kind of princesses they might have been, they all had the hope that one day happily-ever-after would come their way.
However, somewhere along this path of life, the fairy tale collides with reality and one is left picking up the pieces of shattered dreams, trying to make them still fit together.
